HUNTER FUTSAL SOCCER AND SPORTS - NOVEMBER 2011

Vikings Nationals SYDNEY - Summary 16/1/2012

Congratulations and a big “Thank You ‘ to Australia Futsal Association , (Vikings ) for putting on such a great tournament .

Competition was fierce and it was great to see that all states were competitive and that not just one state dominated all ages. For the record, we are not part of NSW but our own state NNSW with three regions Central Coast, NNSW Hunter, NNSW Mid Coast. We welcome Daniel , Chris and their crew to the Strikers organisation.

Both Central Coast and NNSW Hunter (METRO) gained valuable experienced training against each other during the period leading up to the Nationals and we will be working with the other clubs in the region to assist in future Futsal developments.

WELL DONE TO ALL COACHES, REFEREES, MANAGERS, PLAYERS, PARENTS AND SUPPORTERS of NNSW Futsal Metro and NNSW Central Coast Strikers.

To summarise our results our two under 10 teams and one under 11 team , for their first time competing, did really well and won at least one game.

Past NNSW teams struggled to win any. With our academy program being reintroduced , I am sure they will do as well as our other teams in the future.

Our NNSW under 12’s played in the Quarter finals and our Central Coast Strikers under 12 team, won the Under 12 Championships trophy.

NNSW under 13’s lost in an exciting Grand Final against Central Coast Strikers under 13.s. Another Championship trophy to the region.

The under 14 NNSW team , after a slow start, did really well and were very competitive considering their average age was only 13 and were playing against players a year older. How good are we in under 13’s. ?!?

Our NNSW 15 were Premiers BEST in Australia. Unfortunately lost to Queensland in the Grand Finals. This team and coach Manny have been together for 4 years and show ,if we stick together, what one can achieve.

Our NNSW 16’s , who for the last two years haven’t won a game made semis by coming fourth in a pool of eight. Central Coast Strikers coming a very gallant 6th.

Our senior squads, well what can I say about them, the girls really gave it to all teams in one of the hardest Women’s competitions I have ever seen in my fifteen years with Futsal. Although coming eighth they won the admiration of a lot of other teams used to flogging NNSW girls. Hopefully word will get out and we can attract more girls and women to this wonderful sport.

The Youth team (brand new team ) after a very bad start come fifth one point away from fourth and drew with last years winners , Queensland City.

Some very exciting games was watched by all in this group with last second goals to take victories or equalise with opponents.

Finally our men’s team after so many years made the top four in a competition that was very strong with Queensland regions, NSW regions, and Tasmania regions having well trained Futsal teams. The team dedicated their Semi Final placing to all past players of NNSW Men’s and especially to those early years when NNSW struggled to win , even one game.

We have finally arrived and will continue to be a force to be reckoned with. Well done NNSW regions. Well done Coaches. Thank you supporters.

Also thank you and well done to all our referees that participated at the Nationals.

Summer Club competitions re start next week. The Autumn Club Futsal competition will start at most centres 1st week March 2012.

New competitions, Academies, information for Australian selected players, coaches and referees courses and other development news will be given once to hand and advertised in Newcastle Post.

For any interested person, some photos have been placed on Hunter Futsal Strikers “Facebook“ page

Kind Regards
George Poulos.

Statement from the President of Hunter Futsal Strikers Clubs Incorporated
ON BEHALF OF COMMITTEE.
August 5th 2011

Upcoming 2011-2012 HUNTER STRIKERS FUTSAL SEASON.
Hunter Futsal Soccer and Sports Newcastle biggest futsal club ,will be organising competitions at it 's various Hunter Strikers Clubs.

HFS Incorporated  has amalgamated with
  Australian Futsal Association  (also known as Vikings Futsal Association). www.hfss.com.au;

Dear Hunter Strikers Club, Futsal Supporter,

After seven years of club existence and the last five years being of loyal support to NNSW Football in the development of Futsal in the state and with NO breaches to our name, in other words  we did everything that was asked of us by NNSW Football, we have been officially told  that together with Manning Futsal and Far North Coast NSW Futsal, we would not be given endorsement to operate under the FFA Northern NSW banner.

I will not bore you with all the politics but those who have been involved with us fully know the work that the HFS club members have done, to help our club and representative teams and all the hurdles that we and our fellow NNSWF ex club's had to jump over, to create pathways for all our players, coaches and referees. NNSW Football did not seem interested in Futsal and in particular any " Pathways" for players  and were contemplating, much to our disapproval , to send only a few teams to FFA National titles this 2011/12 season. Their prejudice to non-outdoor players was also shown by the huge extra costs for them to participate in a sport that should be available to all, at a fair price.

NNSW Football disloyalty to our club, is our gain, with Hunter Futsal Strikers club amalgamating with Australia Futsal Association, the biggest Futsal Association in Australia, with over 50,000 members in Australia and New Zealand. (Also known as Vikings Futsal).

As the rest of our web site states, NOTHING CHANGES!!

We will still provide competitions at all our centres for both Club and Premier League teams and we will have a true NNSW State championships with the like of big clubs from North Coast, Lismore, Grafton, Coffs Harbour, Port Macquarie, Manning and our four regions competing and we will have a state team in each age group go to Nationals and we will treat all players equally (outdoor players with non-outdoor players).

We still have the state of the art court at Howzat and the biggest Super Futsal court in NNSW at Gateshead Sportsworld and great facilities and courts at Maitland and Newcastle Basketball Stadium and with the amalgamation with Vikings Futsal a lot of other opportunities will be presented to our members as time goes on.

Our web site will also change over the time BUT one thing that will not change is our passion and commitment to Futsal and our club members.

I thank you very much for your continued support and especially those who have rung over the last few days for your support and best wishes. We are quietly confident that our members will understand that a change for the better has been forced on us and that with the support of our members and the vast opportunities Vikings Futsal brings to us, we will still be the number 1 Futsal club in NNSW.
Thank you and regards.

George Poulos,
Hunter Futsal, Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, Hunter Valley and Central Coast,   Strikers and on behalf of committee executives Matt Law, Chris Poulos, Daniel and Helena Carraro, Leanne, Juan Scaron, Carynne Poulos, Frank Flood, David Winter and Peter Poulos.
